Astragalus Root, Immune-boosting Chai Tea

Ingredients
  • 10-12 black peppercorns crushed Piper Nigrum
  • 6-8 cloves crushed
  • 8 cardamom pods crushed
  • 3-3 slices of fresh ginger minced
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-5 tsp dried orange peel
  • 2-3 star anise pods
  • 2 tablespoons of loose organic black tea (3-4 teabags)

  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-5 tsp dried orange peel
  • 2-3 star anise pods
  • 2 tablespoons of loose organic black tea (3-4 teabags)
Instructions
  1. Place water and Astragalus Root in a pot and bring to boil, simmer covered 10 minutes.
  2. Add the spices and simmer an additional 20 minutes until tea is reduced to 3 cups.
  3. Turn off heat, add tea and cover – steeping for 10 minutes.
  4. Strain tea and stir in ¼ cup of honey to sweeten.
  5. Bottle tea concentrate, it will keep in refrigerator 3-4 days.
  6. To serve mix equal parts with organic milk, almond milk or soy milk.
  7. Yields 3 cups of concentrate.
