Our members come from all walks of life. We are diverse in age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, financial status, political views, and most any other criteria.
We share a common bond in the love of herbs – be it growing, eating, health benefits, drying, crafting or thinking up new things to do with them!”
Through these many interests, the Special Interest Groups (we call them SIGs) were born. Those folks who share an interest get together to pursue that interest together, and enjoy each others company.
Below is a list of our current SIGs, but any member may start on appropriately herbal SIG if there is interest and support.
- Weed and Gloat Team – A lively group of SAHS members, we meet on the last Monday morning of the month (9.00 am – 10.30 am, 8.30 am – 9.30 am during the hot months) to weed, plant and GLOAT at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens Herb Garden. Great opportunity to learn about herb lore, planting and harvesting. Afterwards, we sometimes walk around the Gardens, check out what is new, or eat lunch. A couple of times a year, we celebrate with a picnic at the SA Botanical Garden with other volunteers, hosted by the Garden. Lead: Lenore Miranda
- Culinary SIG II – Members of this SIG meet for informal herbal potlucks and recipe sharing. Openings! Leader: Robin Maymar (robinmaymar@gmail.com)
