The 2011 Festival of Flowers

The Festival of Flowers is San Antonio's most exciting gardening-exclusive event. Presented by San Antonio Water System, it's a day of informative seminars and shopping for plants, landscape materials and gardening accessories. The San Antonio Herb Society is always a major presence, giving information, selling resource guides and cookbooks, and sharing our enthusiasm for all things herbal. Here are some pictures from the event. Many thanks to Joe-Beth, who headed up the SAHS booth (which was beautiful) and to al the member volunteers. Malcolm Beck's wife, Delphine, stopped by to say what a fan she was of herbs in the organic garden, and many others expressed interest in our organization. Also present were friends from the Water Garden Club and the Garden Volunteers of South Texas. Some members did double duty, volunteering for more than one group. There were some amazing displays, particularly Milburger's wall of water garden arch and the colorful turtle and bird planters made from tires. Even if you didn't come away with plants (and we did!) you came away with ideas and inspiration. Here are some photos:
